ABOUT THE COMPANY
SCS - Specialized Concrete Surfaces, the name is new but the company certainly isn’t. We’ve been working with highly advanced epoxies and resins for over 15 years. We are an independent concrete coatings and polishing contractor - not a franchise. This is important to you and means that we are free to choose from the very best products and processes available for your project. We will never try to sell you a single solution for every situation due to a franchise contract that ties our hands from better serving our customers. ORIGINS.

Founded is 2009, our parent company has become known in the marine industry for successful material innovations of our own in both manufacturing and developing processes to apply complex epoxies to new surfaces. Our understanding of epoxies, their uses, how they react under different conditions and our employee’s experience sets us apart from others is our market.
Our journey to the epoxy coating and concrete polishing business started from an unmet need - out founder had a lot of concrete floors and couldn’t find a reliable contractor so he did them himself. Starting with a 1000 sq ft basement that was originally poured in the 1940s (and poorly repaired over the years in a few places), he had a need and blank canvas. The mistakes (and there were many) where is own - not a customers. After a few missteps, that basement turned out great. As the company grew, he built his first commercial building and this time had the oppurtunity to work with a brand new construction floor. More time based, more growth and he purchased his first industrial site and yes, - more floors to be coated. At this writing, he has currently purchased a 15,000 sq ft facility. The pitted and spalled concrete has been in hard use for 50 years and is currently undergoing a full restoration. This all culminated in the Specialized Concrete Surfaces - our first whole owned subsidiary that specializes in epoxy flors and polished concrete.
OUR PEOPLE
The third generation in the building business, our founder started his career in heavy concrete construction projects such as large factories and signature bridges for companies like Flour Daniel and PCL. He went on to spend many years in the automotive components sector where he did everything from managing materials testing labs and inspection programs to setting up manufacturing plants from Ohio to Mexico to China. This is where his concrete coatings experience began in earnest; working with contractors to provide workers with durable and safe coatings along with special needs coatings such as non slip for wet work and ESD (electro static discharge) controlled manufacturing areas,

OUR FOUNDER
OUR SUPERVISORS
Chris and Saul both came to SCS from the marine side of the business and both have over 30 years of combined epoxy experience. While the average crew supervisor in the concrete coatings industry is a friend of the owner or a person they hired off the street and sent to a 2 day school, we set ourselves apart by having supervisors with an unmatched background in how epoxies and resinous coatings work, react and how to spot problems before they occur.

OUR EMPLOYEES
All of our employees are thoroughly vetted, background checked and high trained. SCS has documented processes for each task - we do not simply send our people to work on your floor to gain their experience. Specialized Concrete Surfaces is proud of each of the employees that we send to your job site or home.
OUR TRAINING
Besides numerous factory installer trainings, we have sought out advanced hands on training from industry leaders like Bob and Lee Ann Harris, the people who, quite literally, wrote the book on polished concrete and others. We continue to make staying on top of the latest new products, equipment and processes along with continuing investments in training a top priority.
